Jim LaRue passed away after a brief illness in Carmichael, CA, August 1st. He was born in St. Louis, MO, but moved to Michigan at an early age and lived there until he joined the Navy in 1940. He served at several ships during the war, including the USS Albemarle, USS Bull, and USS Floyds Bay, visiting ports in Bermuda, French Morocco, China and Japan, and served at several duty stations in the U.S.
He was Honorably Discharged in 1947, after which he attended National College of Chiropractic in Chicago, Ill, where he met the love of his life, Sylvia Lillian Minkoff, who preceded him in death in April of 2011.
After graduating in 1951, they moved to California. He retired from McClellan AFB and then started his second career as an extremely successful Chiropractor in Sacramento retiring in 1991.
Jim and Syl(via) enjoyed many years of traveling around the country and Canada after both of them retired for the second time.
He is survived by their four children, Michelle Kathleen Henry, Mark Lee LaRue DC, Paula Marie Dieu, and Debra Gayle LaRue. Also five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
He was also a member of the VFW, American Legion, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons (Union Park #610), National Chiropractic Assn, and the Calif. Chiropractic Assn.
Besides his family, his greatest love was singing with the Country Villa Singers under the direction of Miki Gardini. He also enjoyed Bridge and many other activities available to the residents of the Country Villa Senior Park. He took long walks every evening and enjoyed life to the fullest up until a few weeks prior to his passing.
A very loving family will continue to miss him and his enthusiasm for life.
