Mom, 

I miss you daily. Jeff goes to your site and takes photos for me each Sunday, your special day with Jeff. The Jesus mural looking over you is so beautiful. 

I think of you daily and wish I could give you a big hug 🤗 right now. You are still an inspiration to me and many others. You touched so many lives. You loved everyone you came in contact with. You are so special to me.

Mom, thank you for having been a wonderful, caring, kind, giving, forgiving, patient/impatient (smiles), hard-working, altruistic, loving person, and Mother! 

 We were all blessed to have you in our lives. You'll always be remembered and thought of with precious memories. 

As your recommendation a year or so ago was to say 'so long', instead of 'goodbye', I return the farewell. 
So long for now. o/

Kitten is the mother of my step-children, Liz, Jeff, and Stephanie. I first met Kitten at her home in Plantation, FL in the summer of 1972 - oh gosh 50 years ago! It was a difficult time for Kitten but she was gracious to me. I could see how much Kitten loved her children and wanted the best for them. I remember the time she and I had lunch together, just the two of us, when she was visiting Liz who was in high school here. I got to know Kitten a little better that day. I learned of her talents in music - singing, dancing, playing the piano. We talked a lot about her strong Christian faith. Another memory is when she attended church with us. Even though it was a different denomination than she was used to, the hymns were the same and she loved singing the hymns. I particularly remember her saying that day how much she loved singing the hymn Crown Him With Many Crowns. For Kitten, faith and family were most important. I’m thankful for the children Kitten shared with me and for all the beautiful memories she created in life.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you Jim and your whole family.  Having been friends for over 3 decades and marching in the St. Patrick's Day parade in NY was extremely memorable for me. I know the sacrifices that all the family have made over the past few years and respect your love of family and wish you peace as you remember the good times in your life together.  

Our family tradition is to plant trees as a living memory and honor of our friends and relatives and now for Carolyn, as a memory to her many contributions to make this world a better place.  We will ask the Arbor Society out of NE to plant those trees in California in her memory.

“Kitten” was born to the Colbert family in Miami in August of 1937 and I, Mary Catherine “Casey”, was born in September of 1939.  We were fortunate to be born into a loving Christian family.  Kitten gave me my first solid food, a piece of biscuit, my first day home.  Later she taught me how to tuck my chin in case of a fight and showed me what would happen if I didn’t, bloody mouth and all.  She was very inventive and at age three got a chair, unlock three locks on the door, and ran away to find an adventure.  She painted the dog next door green and locked a well-mannered little girl and herself in her bathroom, necessitating a policeman to crawl through the window and unlock the door with them in tow.  

When Kitten was nine, she became very ill (glomerular nephritis-death sentence in those days).  She was in a coma 28 days, with 26 shots a day + IV fluids.  She was confined to a hospital bed in our parents’ bedroom; the private duty nurse had the other bedroom for two weeks; and Mama, Daddy, and I slept on the living room floor.  After three months, she was allowed to be carried to the living room for home movies.  Six months later, we again shared a room.  

Kitten was in the band at school, on the debate team; we sang duets or with family often.  As a teen, she was vice pres. of SE District CYF, served as a model at Burdines,, and we took classes together including modeling, horseback, and dance.  We roomed together at FSU and were very close. I remember many picnics with our children in our parents’ backyard; they would swing, eat at the picnic table, and climb up and swing on the front gate.  

Kitten, my sister, was a very loving person and would constantly say, “I love you.”  We made wonderful memories together and she will be missed.  However, I am so thankful that one day we will be together again in heaven.  She is with Jesus now and I am happy that she is free at last.

I miss you Mom.  You were the best Mother a daughter could ever wish for.  I will try and immulate your loving,  caring,  giving,  graceful and spiritual person you showed me and everyone you came in contact with.  If I can only be half of the beautiful woman you were.  

I am beyond blessed to have been by your side helping you with anything you needed.  I enjoyed our special quite time.  I loved watching you sleep.  My heart filled with joy as I brushed your hair.  So many memories I experienced in the past 4 weeks.  Thank you,  Mom for all you have done for me.
