Catharyne Johnson Campfield

She and her husband, Col. (Ret.) William Campfield, Jr. lived in the Rosemont district of Sacramento, California since 1982. Catharyne also known as Kitty by her family and Kat by her good friends from the south.

Catharyne graduated with a BS in Physical Education with a Social Science Minor from Tuskegee University in May 1953. William Campfield Jr. and Catharyne Johnson met at Tuskegee University and were married April 4th 1953 in Houston, Texas.

Kitty and her husband were based in Hondo Air Base in Hondo Texas 1953, Foster Air Force Base in Victoria Texas in 1953, Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio Texas 1954, Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix Arizona, Nellis Air force Base in Las Vegas in 1955-1959, A&T college in Greensboro NC, Spangdahlem Air Force Base in Germany 1963, McConnell Air Force Bases in Wichita Kansas, Mountain Home Air Force Base in Mountain Home Idaho, Randolph Air Force Base San Antonio Texas, Elmendorf Air Base in Anchorage Alaska, McClellan Air force base in Sacramento California.

Kitty is survived by children: Dianne Garmon, Billy Campfield, Van Fernandez-Campfield, Lynda Denise Campfield. Grandchildren: Byron Garmon Jr., BJ Campfield, and Cameron Campfield. Siblings: Sandy and Bonnie Johnson. Daughter in laws: Alicia Fernandez-Campfield and Sharon Campfield. Son in Law: Byron Garmon

Kitty was inducted into the Tuskegee University Athletic Hall of Fame for Track and Field in September 2007.

Kitty’s hobbies included Traveling, reading, cooking, and watching sports games.
