Charles Guy Gunter, long-time resident of Fair Oaks, CA, passed away on March 25, 2018 at the age 91. He was born in Only, TN in 1926. Affectionately known as “Guy,” he married Dorothy Mae Halfacre in 1957 and became the proud father of two sons and one daughter. After serving in the United States Navy and working a myriad of jobs in Tennessee and Michigan, he moved to CA in 1964 to work on the I-5 Construction Project for several years. He became a driver for Safeway and after retiring, joyfully volunteered for 17 years at Senior Gleanors, an organization dedicated to alleviating hunger. Guy made friends wherever he went and earned the admiration, respect, and love of everyone who knew him. He enjoyed gardening, doing crossword puzzles and studying the Bible. He never tired of reminiscing with a smile, spending time with family, and eating biscuits with gravy. Guy is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy, deceased in 1992. He is survived by sons Jeff Gunter (Lolly), daughter Vickie Gunter, son Reid Gunter, grandchildren Jared Gunter (Nicole) and Kristen Ellering (Phillip), and five great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all. Contributions in his memory can be sent to the American Lung Association (www.lung.org) or ZERO – The End of Prostate Cancer (http://zerocancer.org). A viewing is scheduled at Mount Vernon Memorial Park and Mortuary on Monday, April 2, from 5:00 – 8:00pm, with a funeral service on Tuesday, April 3 at 12:00pm.
