Charlie is survived by his wife Linda and his daughter Alice. His three grandchildren Jacob, Megan and Jacklyn; his great-grandchildren Alba Linda and Noah, the children of Megan and her husband Ishan Algarnawi. Charlie is also survived by his brother Leslie Westerinen and his wife Cathy of Placerville, CA.
Charlie was born on April 27, 1938 in Ashtabula, Ohio, where he grew up and graduated from Ashtabula High School. Upon graduation, he served in the Naval Air Reserve. He later worked in the California Department of Transportation as a Civil Engineer for more than 25 years.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Viola, his sister Elaine Cole and his son Charles Jess Westerenin Jr.
