Cheri Jamieson, a gifted teacher, seamstress, and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the age of 75. She will be greatly missed, loved, and remembered.
Cheri was born on July 2, 1951, in Sacramento, California. She graduated from Grant High School in 1969 and continued on to UC Davis, where she studied home economics, which included interior design and sewing pattern drafting. Cheri was also on the UC Davis synchronized swim team. It was during her college years that she met Robert Jamieson, and the two were married in 1973.
Cheri and Robert shared a love of the outdoors through camping, cross-country skiing, and spent many adventures exploring Wyoming. As their family grew, the camping trips grew with it, and they delighted in sharing those adventures with their two daughters.
An exceptional seamstress, Cheri put her talents to work creating costumes for youth performing group Galena Street East, with a special focus on international folk costumes.
Cheri’s working life began as a lifeguard and swimming instructor. She later worked as a teller at Bank of America, but education ultimately became her calling. She earned her teaching credentials and spent 25 years with the San Juan School District. Cheri began as a high school health and driver’s education teacher at Rio Americano and Mesa Verde. Before retirement, she found her place nurturing second and third graders at Mariposa Elementary. Cheri spent weekends and summers at garage sales, buying books with her own money for her students. At the end of each school year, she let every child take their favorite book home.
Cheri is survived by her husband, Robert Jamieson, two daughters: Christina Coder and Elizabeth Jamieson, four grandchildren, and brothers David and William Ellis.
A funeral service and reception will be held at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Ln, Fair Oaks, CA 95628, US, on November 7, 2026, from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm
