

David McCloud Philipson, Jr. of Sacramento, California passed away on October 23, 2013. David was born September 30th, 1952 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to David McCloud Philipson and Jane J. Philipson. He was preceded in death by his father in 1993 and mother in 1999 and is survived by his sister, Susan Emelen Kochi of Yuba City, nephew Jonathan Burgess Haworth of Sacramento, and niece Kimberly Ann Haworth Barnt Sollender of Rocklin, California.
David grew up in Idaho, Washington, California and Maryland and Missouri where he graduated from High School in New Madrid in 1970. He attended Golden Gate College in San Francisco, CA where he studied in anthropology and philosophy. David went to work for Federal Housing and Urban Development in approximately 1977 in Southern California where he early-on identified his passion for civil rights enforcement work. He was later transferred to Northern California and spent many years working out of the Sacramento and San Francisco offices. He retired in November, 2010 after 34 years of a long and rewarding career of excellence and the making of many life-long friends among his co-workers and associates.
David enjoyed collecting trains, a hobby also enjoyed by his father, and long hours of “antique” hunting. He spent many weekends visiting and caring for his mother and father in Auburn, CA.
A graveside service was held for family members November 1, 2013 at Mt. Vernon Memorial Park, Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, California where he was buried near his father and mother. The graveside service was officiated by Pastor Chris Madsen of Praise Chapel, Yuba City, CA. A reception followed with lunch where family members gathered to celebrate David’s life and renew family friendships. David was dearly loved. He was a quiet, kind, thoughtful and faithful individual. This world is a little emptier since his passing. He will be forever remembered and missed. We love you David – forever and always!
