Dixie Vivian Campbell

Beautiful Dixie and her wonderful smile were born March 2, 1937. She was a farm girl for most of her childhood having been raised by her grandparents on an 80 acre farm in rural Pierce, Nebraska. She enjoyed telling stories of long walks to school in the snow to attend the one room school house, her early morning milking duties, and her love of the farm and her Grandparents.

During High School Dixie returned to Omaha to live with her parents, Vivian and Alden Cagle. She graduated HS with honors and was awarded a scholarship to a business school.

She was feeling confident that her future was set, until a young, handsome magazine salesman knocked on her apartment door and rocked her world. Dixie and James Campbell were married in June of 1955. After 62 beloved years of marriage, James died in 2017.

Their oldest daughter, Tracie Lynn Engels, predeceased Dixie in 2023. Dixie is survived by her daughter Leslie Rae Daily Burk, her son-in-law Ray Burk and her two grandsons, Justin Daily and Jesse Engels. She is also survived by 3 step-granddaughters, Heather Clark, Jennifer Fischer and Courtney McVey and was blessed with 11 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.

Dixie had a lifetime career in Civil Service having worked for McClellan Air Force Base most of her career. She enjoyed the independence her job offered, but her fierce love and devotion to her family came first.

Dixie's endearing nickname, Minnie Mouse, was due to her small stature and enormous heart.

Graveside service will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026 at 11am, at Mt Vernon Memorial Park – 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, CA 95628
