On September 20, 2026, Donald (Donnie) G. Rogers played the final inning at the age of 68, passing from our embrace following 6 weeks of hospice. We are confident he has been welcomed into heaven by God's arms and those of our beloved mother.
Born in Washington D.C. on February 11, 1958, Donnie joined an Air Force family as the fourth of six siblings. A free spirit from the start, he was always willing to push the boundaries. After graduating from Cordova High School, he found a career with the Sacramento County Department of Waste Management & Recycling. His free time involved sports, whether it be playing recreational baseball or basketball, or rooting on his treasured Pirates, Twins, Rams, and Lakers. An infectious sense of humor made him a joy to be with. While we miss him dearly, we take comfort knowing he is at eternal rest. "Live so not as to fear death. For those who lived well in the world, death is not frightening, but sweet and precious." - St. Rose of Viterbo.
Survivors include his siblings: Mike (Cheryl), Julie (Bob), Pat (Karen), Brian (Pam), Richard, and their children. We love you, brother and friend.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, October 17 at 10:00 AM at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, 3235 Arden Way, Sacramento, with reception to follow. Interment on Monday, October 19 at 11:30 AM at Mt Vernon Cemetery, 8201 Greenback Ln., Citrus Heights.
