

Dorothy Arlean McKenzie was born on July 28, 1936 in Mayville, North Dakota to Andrew and Myrtle Skorpen. She was a loving sister to Merilyn, Sylvia, Don and Rick. Growing up she lived in Longview, Washington and Eugene, Oregon. She graduated from Eugene High School in 1954 with a scholarship in Nursing. She moved to Portland, Oregon for her nurse's training. She graduated from Emanuel Hospital with her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. She was the only one chosen and awarded for her academic achievements. She worked at several hospitals in San Francisco. She retired from her 33 years of nursing from Kaiser Sacramento where she mainly worked in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit and the Injection station.
She was a devoted Mom to Tim and Michele McKenzie, Mother-in-law to Laurie McKenzie, and Grandmother to Michael and Christine McKenzie. She was a beloved Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
She loved babysitting Michael and Christine and spending time with her family and friends. She loved her family pets through the years. She enjoyed trips to the library, reading, and working crossword and word search puzzles. She took many trips to Lake Tahoe, Reno and the Oregon coast. She was an avid San Francisco Giants fan. She loved yellow roses and Raspberry Cremes from See's candy were her favorite candy.
Dorothy is greatly missed and will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity and love for others.
