Edith Mae Ayers passed away peacefully at her home on April 14, 2012; she was 92. Edith was born in Alabama to John and Bessie Atchley on December 15, 1919. She was very proud of her service to our country as one of the original “Rosie the Riveter” and continued working for the federal government for over 35 years. Edith was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by her children Jan, Frank and daughter-in-law Tina, her grandchildren Andrea, Cyndie, Jamie, Brittany and Danny Vanek, great grandchildren Steven, Nate and Noah, sisters, Louise Moore, Maragem Harbin and brother John Atchley of Huntsville, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years George Ayers, sisters Edna Bryan, Jean Barthle and Betty Tucker. Edith was a devoted member of the, church of Christ where there was a service to celebrate her life. She was laid to rest at Mount Vernon Memorial Park in Fair Oaks, CA.
