Eleanor Jane Dague passed away on February 8, 2026, at a care home in Folsom, CA at the age of 90. Eleanor (El) was born April 13, 1935, in Merced, CA to Albert H. Penner and K. Margaret (Beyer) Penner.
She was the youngest of 3 girls. As a young girl they moved to Oakland and then San Leandro. She met her husband Joseph (Joe) Dague when she visited her sister Alberta (Bertie) in Minnesota. Joe was a brother of Bertie’s husband. El and Joe corresponded for 3+ years while Joe was in the Army. They were married in Oakland after Joe was discharged. They raised their two boys, Dan and Kenneth, in Tracy and then Stockton. She worked many seasons in the agriculture office for H.J. Heinz Co. They moved to Shingle Springs, CA in 2012. Eleanor had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and was at church every time the doors were open.
For many years she taught kindergarten in Sunday School, served as missions president, worked with youth, and directed teen Christmas plays. She loved to crochet, sew, put puzzles together, bowl, and play games. Many evenings were spent with friends playing peg board and dominoes. She was a good cook and baker, and she was known for the coffee cookies she would make every year during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons. In their retired years, Eleanor and Joe loved to set out in their motorhome for 4-6 months at a time, visiting family, friends, and new places.
She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was deeply loved and will be missed by her son Dan (Penny) Dague of Coupeville, WA; son Kenneth (Dianne) Dague of Orangevale, CA; and 4 grandchildren, Darci Kellam, Holly (Michael) Larkin, Becca Dague, Matthew (Lacy) Dague; and 4 great-grandchildren, Joshua and Daniel Larkin, Rhett and Levi Dague, and many nieces and nephews.
