

Born March 8, 1945, in Brownsville, Texas.
She graduated Jacksonville High School in Illinois, 1963, where she learned to speak spanish. Then went on to receive her R.N. degree in 1965 from Passavant Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville as well. She was passionate about her career and was always trying to learn more. She worked in operating rooms, AIDs clinics, ophthalmology department, and many, many more. She was a proud nurse for 45 amazing years, retiring in 2010. She was a kind, caring, gentle soul and loved to help people in any way she could.
On February 1, 1968 she wed the love of her life Joe Cors. They had sons Brian Benson, Richard Cors and daughter Stephanie Cors. People often went to her for advice, guidance and just to talk about life. She was a friend and confidant to so many who knew her, listening to people's life and struggles without judgement.
She was artistic, never missed a deal at a garage sale and was an outdoorswoman. Loved to camp and had a deep respect for the planet and our environment. Being way ahead of her time and recycled aluminum cans (the ones with pull tabs!) in the 70's long before the reduce, reuse, recycle movement. She recognized the need to respect our planet and never littered. She learned to make her own jewelry too.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul (D.2003) & Edith (D.2022) Barnes Mattoon Illinois. Brothers David (D.2007) & Stephen (D.1991) Barnes, Son Richard Cors(D.2024).
She is survived by her loving husband Joe Cors, daughter Stephanie, Son Brian, Sister Dessa. Granddaughters Jessica, Sarah, Grandson Ryan and 6 Great Grandchildren. She will forever be in the hearts of those she loved and that loved her.
There will be a Memorial Service at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Ln, Fair Oaks, CA 95628, on April 23, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. With a reception to follow at Heights Church, 6540 Sylvan Rd, Citrus Heights, CA 95610, on April 23, at 11:30am.
