Florence Lee Akers

Florence Lee Akers, age 86, of Carmichael, California passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Florence Lee Akers, known as Lee to all, passed away surrounded by family and friends on March XX, 2025, in Carmichael, CA. She was born in the Philippines on September 28, 1938,and was 86 at her passing. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert J. Akers; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Cynthia Metler; brother and sister-in-law, David and Kay Akers, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank C. and Florence Metler and sisters, Elizabeth Florence and Carolyn Green.

Lee began her life in the Philippines in a family setting, surrounded by aunts, uncles, cousins and her grandmother, who doted on her. She experienced WWII firsthand with the occupation of the Philippines by the Japanese and the liberation of the Islands by the United States of America. She moved with her family to the United States at age 11. She graduated high school in Tucson, Arizona, and later attended American River Jr. College in Sacramento. She and Bob married in 1958 and were devoted to each other throughout their married life. They lived for many years in Rancho Cordova and were active parishioners at St. John Vianney Parish. They subsequently moved to Carmichael and have been longtime members of St. John the Evangelist Parish.

Lee worked in the Sacramento medical community for many years. She was the office manager for several medical practices and spent the better part of her career managing the office of her beloved friend, Dr. Michael Burman.

Lee was a warm and welcoming person. She loved to entertain and the door to her home was always open. Her presence will be missed by not only her longtime friends, but also the children from the neighborhood who loved to swim in her pool during the summer. Lee was a generous, giving person in many ways and continued to support the family she left behind in the Philippines.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church in Carmichael, on March xx, 2025. The recitation of the rosary will take place at 10:30 AM. Internment will be at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Fair Oaks, CA.
