Frederick Harold Larsen, (Fred, Freddie, Felli or Fritz), passed away early Tuesday, May 8, 2012 in Folsom, CA after a long, courageous battle with Machado Joseph's Syndrome. Fred was born March 2, 1961 in Sequoia Hospital, Redwood City, CA to Harold and Katherine Larsen.
After graduating from Ponderosa High School in 1979, Fred began a career as a home builder and carpenter. His mastery of his craft earned him a position at Stanford University in the construction department, where he continued to hone his carpentry skills. While at Stanford, he earned his General Contractor’s license and formed his own company known as Pointe Builders.
As a young boy, he was a star pitcher and enjoyed playing little league baseball. As a young adult, his interests expanded to basketball, water skiing, hiking, scuba and free diving, weight lifting, movies and listening to a wide range of music .
Fred had an immense love for nature. He especially loved the Giant bamboo and planted many varieties that consumed any yard he designed. He enjoyed hiking and swimming with his beloved dogs, Beau & Duke. He also loved to travel. His many adventures included visits to Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, Idaho, the Grand Canyon, most of the West Coast, with occasional trips to Reno, Lake Tahoe, and Texas.
Fred is survived by his mother Katherine (Larsen) Turner, brother Rod Pearce, sisters Diane Barnes and Sandra Lucchesi, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Fred's life on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Mount Vernon Memorial, Fair Oaks, CA at 2:00pm. (Viewing will be from 12:00pm to 2:00pm).
Grave site burial and final resting place will take place at Skylawn Memorial Park, San Mateo, CA on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 2pm.
