Gary Frederick Julian, age 80 went peacefully to his heavenly home on Sunday, December 3, 2023. He was with his wife, Sue and constant companion, Sami. They have lived at Well Quest of Granite Bay, CA since May 2021.
Gary was born on February 5, 1943, in San Francisco, CA. His parents were John and Ethel Julian. He was the middle of five children, four boys and one girl. Gary grew up in the Bay Area, San Francisco, and the Peninsula. He graduated from Woodside High School in 1961. He hired on at Lockheed Martin the summer following. Gary continued his education at local junior colleges through programs at Lockheed Martin. He worked for Lockheed Martin full time for 37 years. Following retirement, he worked an additional 5 years as a contract consultant. During his career he received numerous awards and other forms of recognition.
Gary and his first wife, Lee became parents in 1963 with the arrival of son, Craig and two years later daughter, Lynette. The couple’s marriage dissolved. Several years later, in 1993, Gary and Sue (Harvell) married and their 30th wedding anniversary was on December 4, 2023.
Gary was blessed with a beautiful voice, and he loved to sing. He and his father participated in Light Opera, and he also sang in the church choir. In addition, he truly enjoyed his church bible study group. Gary was an avid sports fan of baseball, San Francisco Giants and football, San Francisco 49ers. He started attending games at 8 years of age with his older brother, Ray.
He enjoyed traveling and was fortunate to go to Greece with a group from the Bay Area. He and Sue went to Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, and an east coast cruise to Quebec City from New York. There were numerous visits to see family in New England, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, and Southern California.
Gary was loved by all his family and friends, who described him as a “Gentle Giant”, soft spoken, huge smile, affectionate and always a great listener. His family was also a priority. He was humble, very forgiving, and loyal.
Gary is survived by his wife, Sue, his son, Craig, daughter Lynette and grandchildren, Lauren, and Addison. His siblings, Ray, Nancy and Les and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. He became dad and grandpa to many others, 3 adult children, Lisa, Jimmy, and Amy, 7 grandchildren, Melissa, Tyler, Ashley, Cassi, Joe, Jeremy, and Lane and five great grandchildren, Devon, Carter, Joey, Giovanni, and Teddy. He is predeceased by his parents, brother Bob, niece Terri, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
