

George, 96, passed away on Oct 21, 2016 in Orangevale, CA, six weeks after suffering a stroke. George was born in San Francisco, CA on Oct 6, 1920. He attended Galileo High School in San Francisco and was best known for his skills as a basketball player. One of his proudest moments was being inducted into the Galileo High School Sports Hall of Fame. George was a veteran of WWII, and served in the Army Air Corps. He retired from a career in air freight sales in 1982 and retired to Pinebrook Mobile Home Park in Folsom to be close to family, where he resided for 23 years. He was an avid golfer and Giants baseball fan and loved spending time at the racetrack. George was a caring individual who loved his family and will be greatly missed. George is survived by his loving wife Ann of 67 years; his daughters Cathy Forkey of Murrieta, CA and Virginia Richardson of Folsom, CA; his grandchildren Scott and John McGuire, Katie and Michael Richardson; great grandchildren Brandon, Shaylee and Rayney McGuire, and Joey Richardson. A short graveside service will be held on Saturday, Nov 19, 2016 at 11:30AM with inurnment at Fair Oaks Cemetery, 7780 Olive Street, Fair Oaks, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to St. Marks Lutheran School, 7869 Kingswood Dr., Citrus Hts., CA 95610. George was a proud American and one of his last acts as a citizen was to cast his vote for the presidential election 5 days prior to his passing.
