12/29/30 – 5/3/18
Gerald was born on December 29, 1930 at his family farm in Indiana to Louis and Edith Harrah. After graduating from High School he married his high school sweetheart Irene Jane Hobson and joined the US Air Force. They lived in Florida, England and eventually made their home in California where Gerald achieved the rank of Msgt. serving as a crew chief in the 9th OMS at Beale Air Force Base in the SR71 program.
Gerald was known for his intricate skills as a mechanic and machinist. He could repair any machinery and household appliances, fabricating many of his own replacement parts. He prided himself in his garage organization and enjoyed spending time with designing and woodworking. After retiring he spent time learning and expanding on his computer skills so he could stay in close communication with his friends and family.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 69 years, Irene Harrah, his son Steven Lee Harrah (wife Lori Harrah), three grandchildren, Nicole Harrah-Schreiter, John Harrah and Brent Harrah, two great grandchildren Elliot and Quinn Schreiter, and his brother Fred Harrah (wife Peggy). He was preceded in death by his son Joseph Michael Harrah and parents Louis and Edith Harrah.
Gerald was loved by all for his gentle kindness and quiet laughter and he will be greatly missed.
