Dear Pam and Jerry Jr.  I'm so sorry it is someone's passing that brings people together.  Pam, I believe you were in Betty's "tummy" the last time I was at their house...1969 could that be you? Oh almost forgot when Grandma Died, I was at their other house.  When my dad, Jim died on New Years Day 2005, Jerry was so supportive, calling me every week or so.  Then Betty passed, then my Mom and then my brother David, so I was feeling kind of like a lone stick on the family tree, so thanks for reminding me of all the other branches.  I do have a great hubby and 4 "kids" so there are plenty of leaves.  I used to send Jerry and Betty a picture of them every year but the past 2 years couldn't get everyone together.  I am so glad to reconnect with you, but Big Jerry will be missed by all who knew him.  Love, Linda Morgan Crain

Dear Pam & Jerry Jr.,

Please accept our deepest sympathy on the loss of your dad.  

I will always remember the kindness and generosity extended by your family over the years.  Most of all, I will remember the special love your dad had for my mom.  Her dream was to visit her brothers in California, and though she and Daddy never got there, Bob and I visited in the Fall of 2009.  We had a wonderful time, and stayed in touch over the years.  I was happy to hear from your dad when he called me just before the holidays.  The conversation was short and sweet, as always, and he sounded like his usual, robust self. 
 
I will always have fond memories of your dad.

Dear Pam and Gerry: Your dad was the most amazing man. Carol and I looked forward to every visit with him--to keep the Chicago connection strong and discuss the great times that he had with my parents Kay and Tony. Great friends last forever--and I am sure your mom and dad have already met up with my parents again and our laughing every minute. Your dad made us laugh. My Uncle Jer brought strength, loyalty and enthusiasm to everyone in the family. He did not walk softly, his proximity made you feel embraced.  He would walk in the house with his booming voice calling "Mama" and find Betts wherever she was at the moment. His face always gave him away, whether he was joyful, annoyed or thinking hard.  As a kid, he and Betts often were "interpreters" for me with my mother, Betty's older sister, who could be a little tough.  I remember thinking Betty was the best mom ever because she let you choose what you wanted to eat!  I loved how she put out a spread for all of us, serving our favorite bell peppers and sliced sweet/sour cucumbers, even when she really hated to cook.  And we loved how Big would always fuss over making everyone feel welcome and comfortable.  He was the ultimate host, never met a stranger, and could chat with anyone, anywhere...which often drove his wife a little nuts.  Big Jer was the ultimate family man, protective, selective and proud.  His long stretch on this earth was a testament to being a force not easily defeated.  I feel so very fortunate to have been part of his circle.  RIP Uncle Jer  Thank you for hundreds of fun moments.  Gayle and family
