In loving memory of Gladys Mae Westlund, also known as my grandma. Gladys was the best grandma I ever had. She always knew how to put a smile on my face, and thats because of her amazing sense of humor. I love you so much grandma and  i miss you a lot. I will see you in heaven one day<3

Today I honor the life of a very special lady. Gladys went to be with our Heavenly Father. She was a very dear friend of my mothers and became a very dear friend of mine. When my mother passed away Gladys became like an adoptive mother to me. We would spend time together going to lunch and on occasion shopping. It was only recently that I learned of her failing memory when we went shopping and she wanted to buy just about everything in the store as she "needed" it all. I laughed over her determination to get it all instead of crying over her loss of memory.

Gladys loved going to Leatherbys and Long John Silvers so it was there that we made many good memories. Gladys and I shared a special bond as our birthdays were both in February, mine on the 21st and hers on the 24th. This year Gladys turned 90 and and we planned on celebrating at Long John Silvers, however due to her failing health that celebration will be postponed until we meet again. 

Gladys was the past president of the Native Daughters of California. She was very proud of that honor and did many good things including giving scholarships to several young women that were also Native Daughters. She would always share the stories of the fun the group had on various outings and Gladys seemed to enjoy their trips to the Native casinos the best. I must say I was a little envious and wished I could be a part of the group but having not been born in California that was not to be. 

Gladys did many good deeds that made her the special lady she was, including helping my parents out when my father lost his job and they were down to their last dime. For that I will be eternally grateful and in her honor will pay it forward. 

I will miss Gladys almost as much as I miss my own mother and will look forward to Gods promise and the day we will all be together again. Rest in peace dear lady, you earned it and deserve it! I love you.Kim

I am so sorry for the loss of your dear mother.  She is truly in a better place watching over you and your family.  I will never forget the time I met Gladys-one heckofa lady!

Gladys will surely be missed. I'm glad you brought Gladys in to my life. Gladys had the best sense of humor, the sweetest smile one could ever imagine. 
She made my working hours enjoyable, day in and day out, never a dull moment with her. Embedded in my mind will always be "Honey, rub my feet, I'll pay you ten dollars or I'll give you five dollars if you get me a drink of water".

 We will forever love you Aunt Gladys.We miss you.So thankful to hear from you on Thanksgiving and tell you how much I love you.You are so special,kind and one of a kind.You will rest in peace...this I know,you are special.Love you.

Gladys, I will miss your smile, your sense of humor and your presence in Native Daughters.

Gladys will be missed greatly. She was a whole lot of fun and always kept things exciting. She was a great lady who really loved her family!

Gladys was a wonderful woman. She will be missed by all who knew her. My thoughts are with her family and friends.

From the time I was born until I was 7 Gladys lived next door to my family.  Her daughter was my best friend and I always thought of her as another mother.  I probably spent as much time in her house and yard as her daughter Pam did in mine.  She was a loving and wonderful person who was such a strong presence in my early life.  Rest in peace, Gladys.
