home on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in Modesto, California. He was born June 30, 1924 to
Sylvania and Herman Christensen in Lindsay, Nebraska. He was raised on a farm in Nebraska
and from that came his love for horses and gardening. His greatest love was his faith and for his
immediate family as well as for his extended family which is quite large and includes too many
loved ones to name. He valued each and every person who touched his life. He will be best
remembered for his infectious laugh, continual grin and his love of joking with those he cared
for. He graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1947 and married Norma Pepper soon
after she graduated from Nurses training. They were married November 24, 1950 in Omaha,
Nebraska and were devoted to one another throughout their time together.
Herman “Chris” can best be defined by his lifetime service to anyone in need, his
genuine love and happiness, and most importantly his loyalty to his beliefs, loyalty to his wife,
friends and family. He could always be counted on to uphold his word. He continued volunteer
work until age ninety working at a food pantry feeding the needy.
Survivors include his wife Norma and a daughter Susan Cox of Carmichael California; five
grandchildren Bradley, Lindsay, Christine, Blaine and Blake, along with four beloved children of
Lincoln, Nebraska, Shea, Ben, Bryan and Bree Samani. He was preceded in death by two
children, Jan Johnson and Brent Christensen as well as his parents, four brothers and two
sisters.
