Born December 31, 1932 in Michigan, the sixth child of eight siblings. Irma grew up in Michigan’s upper peninsula and moved to California after high school. Irma attended Placer College and Sacramento State and was a teacher for many years.
Irma married Eugene Cole on August 2, 1953, and they were married until Gene’s passing in 2017. Together they made their home in Carmichael, where they raised five children. Irma and Gene enjoyed road trips in their motorhome, opening their home for parties, and traveling the world.
She is remembered with love by her children, Joe Cole (Bonnie), Dan Cole (Pauline), Greg Cole (Karen), Carole Gissel (Doug), and Marlene Marzo (John), her brother, John Luhta, fifteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
