Courageous Ja-Na

She married Jaime and the Guatemalan adventure began. Many travels to Guatemala over the years,  getting to know her new family and exotic new food and traditions. Nephews and nieces traveling abroad to learn each other´s cultures and languages.

As the family grew, so did our love and affection for Ja-Na. New generations of Castillos were born and the bond became stronger, even being countries apart. When we got together with our families, it felt like no time had passed but new memories were created.

We are so lucky to have shared many adventures with Ja-Na, and we will miss her deeply.  With all our love, we will remember Ja-Na forever.

Ja-Na, You are my childhood friend that I went to Camp Arcade with, went through High School, both of us spent a year in Lake Tahoe and then off to Germany.  I don't know how we squeezed in college, but we did.  We both got married the same month and year.  And you and I became mothers during the same period;  you with two boys and me two girls.  Remember when we got lost skiing in Switzerland.  I'm still grateful  to that cab driver. 

But more than shared events, you are my friend. You always  'understood'.  We shared so many confidences. Many late night talks, wondering and dreaming.  Years would pass and when I saw you again, it was like no time had passed.  But so much of that was you Ja-Na, my dear dear fiend.  So full of life and fun.  Wonderful giggles and so much laughter.  A positive and powerful light. 

I don't know what to say to Jaime and the boys (Justin and Josh) , your grand children - please accept my heartfelt condolences.   And Stephanie, your beautiful sister ,  your mom and dad and dad, your step sister . . .  I'm so sorry for  all your heartache and loss.  Please know I am here.  

I love you Ja-Na and always will.
