
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Crossroads Church South Campus in Auburn, CA with Pastor Josh Blevins officiating. Jim will be laid to rest at a private family service on September 11, 2018 at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery for Veterans in Dixon, CA.
Jim was born in Littlefield, Texas to James Dayton Conner and Alma Lee Conner (Hughes) on June 21, 1948. He graduated from Kennedy High School in Fremont, CA. He worked as a truck driver for Union Pacific Railroad for 28 years and retired on July 31, 2018. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army. He was awarded National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a member of the American Legion, The Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees, and the Highway 99 PT Cruiser Club. He also enjoyed photography and was a diehard New York Yankees fan since 1962 when he saw them play the SF Giants in the World Series. He also greatly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Jim is preceded in death by his father, James Dayton Conner and former father-in-law, Edward Duane Mullins. Jim is survived by his former wife, Teresa Johnson; children, Charlene and Greg Mazur, Mark and Shelley Conner; grandchildren, Sarah, Emily, Evan, Ashlyn and Austin Mazur, Nathan Shirar and McKenzie Conner and former mother-in-law, Charlene Mullins.
The family would like to ask that in lieu of flowers that a donation be made to The Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child.
