James Michael Henry passed away peacefully on January 2, 2023, in his home in Rancho Cordova, California surrounded by his family. Mike lived a glorious 83 years as an avid fisherman and loving son, brother, husband, and father. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 25, 1939. Mike moved to Carmichael, California, and married Sharron L. Craig on February 23, 1963, in Reno, Nevada. In 1968 they then moved to their current home in Rancho Cordova, California. Mike served in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 to 1962 and worked in Communications. He was the recipient of the Marine Corps’ Good Conduct Medal. He greatly enjoyed fishing, went on multiple fishing trips, and could fish for any fish. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, especially around the main Hawaiian island of Oahu. Hawaii was his paradise where he worked at times, fished, and shopped for eel skin wallets. He loved to eat sushi and Asian food as well as go to the movie theatre when something good was playing. His garden was immaculate as he meticulously ensured all his plants had enough sun and were watered appropriately. Above all, his family brought him happiness. He lived close to his children and grandchildren and would travel to see those who didn’t live in California. He enjoyed playing the game of cribbage which he taught to all who would learn. He is survived and deeply missed by his loving wife Sharron; his four children, Lee Henry, Teresa Kirshner, Rebecca Candee, and Daniel Henry; his eleven grandchildren; and his six great-grandchildren (with a seventh on the way).
