

Janet Himenes, 86, passed away quietly in her sleep at home on April 29, 2026. Janet leaves behind her husband Rich of 68 years; daughters Debbie Hamm and Jennifer Guthzeit; grandchildren Brittany Ehrig, Sam Hamm, and Jess Hamm; great-grandchildren Owen Ehrig and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Della McWilliams; grandchild Sean Hamm.
When her children were young Janet worked from home doing various jobs; making crafts and selling at craft fairs, decorating birthday cakes, and babysitting children in the neighborhood. She was troop leader for Girl Scouts for several years.
When her children were old enough to walk to school, Janet worked at Rancho Cordova elementary school as secretary until she retired in 1997. She touched many students' lives.
In retirement, she took care of her grandchild Brittany while her parents were at work. Janet and her husband Rich both volunteered as ushers at Music Circus (about 50 years), and they volunteered at the railroad museum and train in Old Sacramento (45 years).
Janet and Rich traveled for many years all over the world with their friends Rolf and Dee Lyons. Just a few Peru, Africa, Switzerland, Europe. They always managed to find a train ride everywhere they traveled. In their later years they cruised all over the world.
Janet lived an amazing life and will be missed by all she knew. There will be a memorial on July 12th, 2026 at 1:00pm at Mt. Vernon Memorial Park in Fair Oaks.
