Joan was born on January 15, 1933 in Lawrence, Massachusetts to Daniel and Geraldine Sullivan. In 1953, she married Aime J.E. Dubois. They were happily together for 47 years until his passing in November 2000. Aime was an officer in the US Air Force and they were stationed in a number of places in the US before he was transferred to Mather Air Force Base in 1962. The family has lived in the Sacramento area since 1962.
Joan is survived by her 4 children, sons Daniel J. Dubois, Robert J. Dubois (Margie), and daughters Carol A. Reisinger (Dick), and Michelle D. Miles (Billy). She is also survived by 7 grandchildren (Tiana, Jeremy, Andrew, Keri, Amber, Nick, and Cody) and 8 great-grandchildren (Cole, Leyla, Dean, Clara, Sydney, Wyatt, Alyssa, and Zoey).
Joan lived life to the fullest. She was meticulous about her appearance and had her hair and nails done on a regular weekly schedule. She was independent and active in her church. She was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America and served as Regent for several terms. She was also a eucharistic minister for many years and brought communion to homebound parishioners. She loved to bowl and did so twice a week up until the week before she passed. She was devoted to her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her dogs.
Joan should be remembered as someone who truly cared about others and was always thinking about their feelings. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten. On Wednesday, January 17, 2024, a Rosary will be said for her at 10:00AM at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 10497 Coloma Road, Rancho Cordova, California followed immediately by a Funeral Mass and reception. A private family burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery later that afternoon.
Per Joan's wishes, donations may be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
