

John Clinton Brown, 78, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on Wednesday, September 24, 2014. John was born April 12, 1936 to John (Jack) Gheardt Brown and Barbara Cole Brown in Syracuse, New York, the oldest of 2 children. He graduated from New Hanover High School, Wilmington, North Carolina in 1954.
John is survived by his loving wife, Muriel; daughter, Sandra (Sandy) Ann Tibbetts; son Clinton (Clint) Ward Brown; grandchildren, Tanner and Tristan Tibbetts; Evan, Ryan and Sean Brown; brother, Benjamin Cole Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
John served in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Radar technician. He met his beautiful bride of 57 years, Muriel Louise Ward, while stationed on Whidbey Island Naval Station and they married in 1957 in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada.Following a transfer to Moffett Field Naval Station in Mountain View, California in early 1959 John began a long career in high radio frequency wireless communications for Litton Industries in Palo Alto, California. His career spanned 42 years at Teledyne, Varian, and ETM until his retirement in 2001. John loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was actively involved in many outdoor activities, but in particular loved watersports including sailing, fishing and waterskiing. He was an avid reader and humanitarian who helped many folks in need throughout his life.
Memorial services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Mount Vernon Memorial Park & Mortuary, Fair Oaks, California. A reception will follow where the family will greet friends from 3:00 to 5:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heart Society of America and Dementia Society of America.
