John Duane Koster
April 26, 1944 – June 11, 2022
Born in Grants Pass, Oregon on April 26, 1944, the first of four sons of the late John and Delila (Kelley) Koster. John passed away after going into cardiac arrest on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at the age of 78.
John leaves behind his beloved wife of 35 years, Debbie (Williams) Koster, daughter, Laura Ann and her husband William (Billy) James Welch, Jr. and their son James Duane Koster; daughter, Heather Lynn and her husband John Miles Williams; son, John Duane, Jr. and his wife Brenda; daughter, Kimberly Koester; and son, Joseph Paul.
During John’s term in the Navy as a Seaman Apprentice from March 1962 until January 1965, John served on the aircraft carrier, USS Coral Sea and received the Army Forces Expeditionary Medal for his service during the Vietnam War.
John’s talents were many, he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend who loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting with his family and friends throughout his entire life. John had a very kind heart and quick wit and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial funeral service celebrating John’s life will be conducted at Mount Vernon Memorial Park in the main chapel on Friday, July 15th at 2:00 p.m. Family will receive friends following the service to share refreshments and further remembrances of John until 5:00 p.m.
