Joyce Naomi (Fagerlie) Moeszinger, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family On August 11, 2024 at the age of 94. Born on July 2, 1930, in Duluth, Minnesota, Joyce was the daughter of Melborn Clifford Fagerlie and Eulalie Adeline Beatrice Curnow Fagerlie. She was the cherished sister of two brothers, John (Sue & Linda) and Lynn (Faye) Fagerlie.
In 1946, Joyce moved to California while recovering from rheumatic fever. She lived with her Aunt Pat in San Francisco until her family arrived later that year from Minnesota. They settled in the Fair Oaks/Orangevale area, where Joyce attended San Juan High School.
On July 20, 1948, Joyce married the love of her life, Robert Joseph, in Carson City, NV. The couple eloped, and while Joyce’s parents were aware of their union, it came as a surprise to Bob's family. Together, they raised three children: Marcia Jean, Robert Lance, and Naomi Lynn (Spinney). Joyce's family was her pride and joy, and she was a dedicated and loving presence in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
Joyce had a brief career working at Ink Art Printing and later volunteered at Christ the King (CTK), where she typed and printed bulletins on the old mimeograph machine. Her creative spirit shone brightly through her many hobbies, including sewing, crochet, knitting, macramé, and cake decorating. She found particular joy in tending her garden and caring for her beloved dogs, cats, and chickens. The sunflowers that bloomed in the fields of her property were a source of peace and happiness, reflecting the beauty she cherished in life.
One of Joyce’s greatest joys was spending nearly every Wednesday with her best friend of over 80 years, Betty Langton. The two would spend the day shopping, chatting, sharing breakfast, and going to the movies, creating memories that Joyce cherished deeply.
Joyce was a woman of profound faith, who found strength and solace in reading her Bible, studying her devotional, and dedicating quiet moments each day to reflect on her deep love for God. Her life was a testament to her unwavering devotion to her family and her commitment to serving others. She will be fondly remembered for her warm heart, her creative talents, and her steadfast dedication to those she loved.
Joyce is survived by her son, Robert Lance, and her son-in-law, Robert Spinney. She was the proud GrannyMom of Meredith Cameron, (Derek) and Mallory Schulz, (Jeff), and the delighted great-grandmother of Kolbi, Kendall, Jace Cameron and Thaddeus Schulz. Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Joseph, and her daughters, Marcia Jean and Naomi Lynn.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at a visitation held at Mount Vernon Memorial Park on August 27th, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on Wednesday, August 28th at 9:00 AM in the Big Chapel at Mount Vernon Memorial Park with a reception to follow at the Spinney’s Home.
