Karen Kalinowski, 75, of Folsom, California passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2020. Karen loved the 4th of July and always carried that sparkle in life. She loved the Lord and was always that bright light to everyone she met. Karen was born in a Chicago suburb to Viola and Dr. Everett Storey. Karen had an older sister and brother, Beverly and Dale, and all moved to Southern California when she was a little girl. She met Mike, a Navy Sailor, and they married later moving their family to Citrus Heights in 1978. They raised three girls (Michele, Heather and Jennifer). She loved being a stay-at-home mom. The family attended Advent Lutheran Church and Karen was active serving others. Karen later resumed her career in the banking industry at Security Pacific Bank and Bank of America. Karen also worked in the bridal industry for House of Fashion in downtown Sacramento. Karen remarried, Stephen Kalinowski, who has since passed before her. She is now dancing in heaven with him and other loved ones. Karen survived a liver transplant in 2006 and died from a stroke along with other pre-existing health complications. Through Hospice, Karen was able to be surrounded by her family during her last days on earth. She is survived by: Dale Storey (Brother), Michele and Michael Kane (Daughter and Son-in-Law), Heather and Rick Mekemson (Daughter and Son-in Law) Jennifer Reiffer (Daughter), Granddaughter, Brooke Surin and husband John Surin, Grandson Brandon Kane, Grandson Drake Mekemson and Grandson Jordan Kane, Niece Tammy Rice, along with step-children Kevin, Sarah, John, and Vanessa Kalinowski, and grandchildren, Aspen and Alder.
Due to the current COVID protocols for Sac/Placer/El Dorado County, guests
must wear protective masks at all times while inside the funeral home facility
and practice the recommended six foot social distancing.
