

Born May 1, 1935 in Mobile, Alabama. The youngest child and only son of Leona Blanche Butler and Leslie Coy Lambeth. Preceded in death by his parents, and his four older sisters, Earline, Maggie, Betty, and Muriel. He also goes to join his beloved wife of 53 years, Barbara, his eldest son, Leonard, Jr., and his eldest granddaughter, Leslie Danielle Lambeth. Nicknamed “Buddy” at birth by his mother, he was affectionately called “Bud” by his wife. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Leonard moved with his family from Alabama to settle in Fontana, California in the 1950’s. It was there that he graduated high school and attended Chaffey College before beginning his lifelong career as a carpenter. Known for his work ethic and his love of carpentry, Leonard provided for his family working in construction building houses and doing “side jobs”. Leonard met and married Barbara Ann Harrell on August 4, 1956.
They raised their three children in San Jose, California and later moved to Shingle Springs, California where Leonard was a volunteer firefighter and loved to spend time with his grandchildren, his horses, and taking care of his property. Throughout his children’s youth, he was active in scouting and baseball.
Leonard is survived and will be deeply missed by his son James, his daughter, Katherine; his grandchildren, Christopher, Joshua, Danielle, Mikayla, Jason, Mathew, Destiny, and Michael; his daughter-in-law, Joyce; his dog, Chopper and his cat, Fancy. He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Leonard touched many lives and was affectionately referred to by many as “Papa”. He had many friends, young and old and his wit and influence will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 2:00pm at Valley Springs Presbyterian Church 2401 Olympus Drive, Roseville, CA 95661.
