

Lane was born in Mercedes, Texas and lived many childhood years in Omaha, Nebraska. He joined the Air Force at the age of18 and was stationed at McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, California. Determined to get a college degree, he worked the graveyard shift at the base and went to college during the day. While at college he met Janet and they married in 1964.
Lane worked at Aerojet and enjoyed new inventions like computers. He received his chemistry degree in 1967 and landed a chemistry position making plated wire for computers in Anaheim, California. He returned to Aerojet in 1971 and excelled in producing solid rocket propellant. Aerojet asked Lane and his family to live in Italy from 1978-1980 to teach the Italians to produce propellant for NATO. After returning to California, Lane was resourceful and did electrical, plumbing, tile, trim and more on his and Janet's dream home and he tended to his garden he had made on the acreage. Lane worked at Aerojet for 32 years, won the technical achievement award and three patents, one on plated wire. He retired in 1999.
Living the American success story Lane enjoyed many cruises, including one where he traveled through the Panama Canal with his wife Janet, daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren and friends. He was a loving husband to Janet, loving father to Lara L. Chartier (Sean Chartier), and a loving grandfather (Papa) to Cameron Chartier, Donovan Chartier, and Carol Lynn Chartier. He will be missed. A private military funeral is planned.
