Lawrence Thomas Afzal

Lawrence Thomas Afzal, of Sacramento, CA, passed away on March 30, 2024 at the age of 79. He was lovingly know by Larry to all who knew him and he was a pillar of the community he was born in Sacramento, CA. He was born to the late Mohamed and Gladys Afzal.

Larry is survived by his siblings, Karen Edwards, Jane Afzal and Mohamed A. Afzal and five nieces and four nephews and was predeceased by his parents, Mohamed and Gladys Afzal and his older brother Joseph Afzal.

Larry graduated from Encina high school in 1962 and went on to attend American River College. After college, Larry went on to work as a journeyman for Teichert as a heavy equipment operator, but found his true passion for life when he started working as a general contractor and builder. Larry owned many small business in his lifetime, but he always found himself building things as that was always his absolute passion.

Larry was an avid coin collector and was a fan of a variety of sports. Larry was an involved and respected member of the community, who was a part of the Shriner’s Fraternal Organization, the Elks Lodge and the Freemasons. Larry will be greatly missed by not only his family, but by those that had the honor of knowing him and his friendship.
