Leona passed away November 21, peacefully at home in her favorite chair.
She recently celebrated her 87th birthday with a family party.
Leona was born November 2, 1927, in Perry, OK, to Lon Hartzell and Grace Yates Hartzell.
She was second to the youngest of 5 brothers and 1 sister. She moved to California
with her family in 1942. She met John G. McCarty, and married him 7 months later on June 10, 1943,
in Sacramento, CA; they celebrated 71+ years of marriage.
Upon retirement, they enjoyed many years of traveling with friends and family in
their travel trailer.
Leona is survived by husband John; sons Roger (Jeannette), Randy (Diane)
and daughter Rhonda (John); grandchildren Rosalee McCarty,
Kevin McCarty and Ilea Biagioni; step grandchildren Kacie Tuck and Brandon Tuck;
and 5 great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents and siblings.
A service to celebrate her life will be held Wednesday, November 26, at Mount Vernon
Memorial Park at 2 pm. Burial to follow at the Park.
