Born January 30, 1926 in Baileyton, Tennessee. Passed away in Sacramento, California on March 12, 2011 after a short hospitalization. Lowry is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Elizabeth, their children, Viveca (Ron) Kannegeisser of Sacramento and Tom (Cindy) Underhill of Gold River, CA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Todd (Ann) Kannegeisser of Carlsbad, CA, Taryn (Pat) McCusker of Folsom, CA, Brent Underhill of Sacramento and Kacie Underhill of Gold River. He also leaves four great-grandchildren, Addison Kannegeisser, Ryan Kannegeisser, Grady McCusker and Maley McCusker.
Lowry proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked at the Kingsport Printing Press in Tennessee for 16 years before moving to Sacramento in 1963. He retired from the California State Printing Press in 1971 where his co-workers fondly called him 'Chopper." Lowry is preceded in death by his sisters, Kathryn Brown and Faye Compton, both of Fall Branch, Tennessee and his brother Harold Underhill of Tappahannock, Virginia.
