Lynn Delaine Davis was born September 9, 1940 in San Pedro, California to James and Virginia Lewis. She was the oldest of three daughters. In 1944 the family moved to Roseville where she would grow-up, make many life-long friends, and graduate from Roseville High School in 1958. In 1960 Lynn met the love of her life, Freddie (Fred) Wayne Davis of Edna, Texas. Fred had been in the United States Air Force prior to their chance meeting, with his last duty station being McClellan Air Force Base. They were married November 4, 1960, welcomed their first son Michael Wayne Davis in February 1962, and their second son Mark Layne Davis in March 1964. The family lived in North Sacramento prior to moving to Orangevale in March 1972. Lynn insisted on working at home while helping to raise the couple’s two sons during which time she organized and chaperoned many school events, field trips, and little league picnics. Once the couple’s sons were in high school and junior high school, Lynn went to work for Mercy Healthcare in their insurance and claims department. She retired as a Section Lead and Supervisor in 2002 after 26 years.
During retirement Lynn and Fred were able to travel extensively, to include taking the family on an Alaskan cruise in August 2010 to celebrate their 50th Anniversary. Second to this adventure were the many trips in their fifth wheel throughout the continental United States, Canada, and Alaska with their very dear friends.
Lynn had many interests and hobbies. She was an excellent seamstress, making many dresses and outfits for her granddaughters and others. She was also an expert embroiderer, making countless embroidered pillowcase and tea towel sets for family and friends as well as custom embroidered shirts for her sons and nephews. Lynn was also a collector. She loved angels and had amassed a collection that filled a large display case and many rooms in the couple’s home – a collection Fred often added to with special gifts on Lynn’s birthday and their anniversary.
They became members of the First Baptist Church of Orangevale in 1978. Over the years Lynn served on the church counsel and numerous committees. Lynn also taught Sunday school regularly, including the week prior to her passing.
Her greatest love, though, was her family. She would find any excuse for a family gathering and treasured every moment, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lynn is survived by her son Michael and wife Diana of Citrus Heights, son Mark of Sacramento, granddaughters Mikayla and MacKenzie of Citrus Heights, bonus grandson Ben Eger and wife Kelly of Yelm Washington, great-grandsons Benjamin, Jr. and William of Yelm Washington, bonus great-children Brett, Bradley and Penelope of Yelm Washington, sisters Karen Revers of Placerville and Lauren Logan of Citrus Heights, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Lynn is predeceased by her husband Freddie Wayne in March 2018 and granddaughter Danielle Alyse Davis Eger in November 2019.
