Maria "Yelly" Vega born on May 23, 1945 in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico and joined the angels in heaven on May 19, 2021. "Yelly" was a loving mother of four children to Beverly, Jeannette, Stevie, and Christine. She was also a devoted grandmother to nine grandchildren Kaitlyn, Janisse, Kristen, Brianna, Amanda, Ryan, Logan, Alyssa and Jerimiah. She also has two great grandchildren Zachary and Zander. Yelly was also a wife to "Chinky" and later a life partner to Victor.
"Yelly" was just as beautiful inside as she was on the outside. She was very passionate when it came to caring for her family. She would always do everything she could to keep everyone together and ensure that we would come together on special events and holidays. Most notable was her wanting to be there for family during tough times also. Everyone in the family and extended family knew that if no other door were open to them, they could come to her and she would never turn you away. She would let you into her home, comfort you, feed you and keep you from harm and make it your home away from home. I cannot count the number of times we had a family member stay with us when no other door was open. This was at the core of her being. FAMILY....
She would create winter wonderlands during Christmas, and spooky Halloween hallways in the fall. She was a second mother to many of our friends when we were growing up. Everyone in the neighborhood called her Mom. Whenever one of our friends would come over to visit, she would make a place for them to stay for dinner and Lord help you if you should say no thank you. She was a caring nurturer first and foremost, but Mom had another side as well. Mom had no filter; she did not hold back any punches. That was the beauty about her. You always knew where you stood with her. She was a force of nature and filled with energy that few could match. She was a fighter and always spoke up for those that could not do so for themselves. All four of her children will hold on to these characteristics as they continue their own stories of family. They are reflections of what she has taught them to do. Always put family first, this is what she believed. May she rest in peace, watch over us all, and sleep with the Angels.
Due to the current COVID protocols for Sac/ Placer/ El Dorado county, guests must wear protective masks at all times while inside the funeral home facility and practice the recommended six foot social distancing.
