Marie Letha Rice

She has been a resident of Orangevale for over 80 years. Marie graduated from San Juan High School, class of 1941.

She was preceded in death by her husband William V. Rice in 2011. They were married in Reno, Nevada December 20, 1941.

Marie worked for Libby McNeil Libby during World War II and then became a homemaker until later becoming a seamstress. She retired from Diablo Draperies after 25 years.

Marie was active and a contributing member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles FOE 929 Auxillary Folsom, as Madam President and serving 25 years as secretary. She was especially proud to serve as the Aerie and Auxillary grandmother. Marie is also a member of the California Auxillary Hall of Fame, and an active member of the VFW 904 Folsom.

Marie is survived by son Harold V (Carol) of Elk Grove, daughters Janet F Shipman of Folsom, Karen M (Rick) Lopez of Loomis, Pamela S (Mike) Donnelly of Folsom, 4 grandchildren, 3 great grand children, and 1 great, great grandson. She is also survived y her sisters Bessie Patterson of Citrus Heights and Josephine Rose of Clarksburg. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law Donald R Shipman.

There will be a viewing on Tuesday, January 9 from 5 to 7 PM, and funeral services on January 10 at 10 AM with graveside service to follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Park & Mortuary, 8201 Greenback Lane Fair Oaks, CA.
