He married his beloved wife Virginia on January 11, 1943.
He was blessed with 4 beautiful children, Georgia (Rick) Hill, Carol (Dick) Lohmeyer, Martin (Elaine) Vanich Jr. and Teresa Vanich, 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Martin entered the U.S. Army in 1943 and proudly served his country in the 111th Infantry Regiment on Kuadjulane, Marshal Island, and on Peleliu.
He retired in 1983 after 27 years of service with Chevron Motor Transport Department. While he and his wife were retired, they enjoyed spending time with the family and 17 years of traveling in their motorhome.
He was a devoted Catholic and a proud member of the American Legion.
