Mary Ann Meredith

Mary Ann Meredith, age 90, died at peacefully in her sleep on Sunday morning March 13,2011 in Napa, California. Born July 8, 1920 in Chicago Illinois, to Joseph and Rose Longo, she attended Covert Consolidated school in Covert Michigan completing the twelfth grade. When she was not in school she worked on the family farm outside the town of Covert where they grew assorted fruits and vegetables. Mary traveled west with her first husband, fellow Covert resident, Henry Budack to the Bay Area, finally settling in Sacramento. They raised two daughters together until he died unexpectedly in 1951. She worked at McClellan AFB, for many years, holding various assembly and mechanic positions including making ejection seats. While there she met her second husband and had a son. In 1985 she retired from Emigh Hardware in Sacramento where she worked as the head cashier for 17 years. Mary loved to garden. Her large yard was always beautifully adorned with many rose bushes and other flowering plants. Every year, she always had a garden of vegetables from asparagus to zucchini and was always willing to share the fruits of her labor with family and friends. She loved to play bingo and card games, sometimes for hours on end. In her later years she loved to spend time with her family and friends Survivors include Daughters Barbara Wilcox of Honolulu Hi, and Deanna Ertel (William) of Williams, Or and Son James Meredith (Kimberly) of Napa, Ca, Grandchildren Michael Wilcox and Wendy Holohan. Mary was preceded in death by her husbands Henry Budack and James C Meredith, parents Joe and Rose Longo, brothers Joe, August and sisters Josephine, Jean and Rose. Services will be held at 10:00am Saturday March 26, 2011 at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, Fair Oaks, Ca. Burial will be immediately following the services at East Lawn Memorial Park Folsom Boulevard Sacramento. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend.
