On July 20, 2026 Michael Steve Underwood passed peacefully at his home in Gold River,
California. Steve was 77 years old and was married to his wife Belva for 48 years.
Born in Sheffield Alabama, on May 27, 1949, and known as “Steve” since grade school,
He is the son of John O. Underwood Jr. and Mary B. Underwood.
Steve earned a Bachelor’s Degree in management at Southwestern State College in
Weatherford Oklahoma and was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity.
Steve began his career in business as an assistant manager at the Lloyd Noble Center in
Norman Oklahoma, before becoming an assistant director at the Myriad Convention
Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. From there he managed the Convention Center in
Sacramento, Anaheim Convention Center and Stadium, and Assistant Director of the
Orlando Civic Center. He then joined GES in Los Angeles California, a Global exhibition
and trade show management company, where he produced and managed global trade
shows and expositions. Then, Steve opened a new office for GES in Sacramento, where
he remained until retirement twenty years later.
Steve married Belva Neilson, a professional figure skater on September 2, 1977, in
Napa, California. Belva was the love of his life.
Steve was highly respected due to his integrity in his business. His work was extended to
serving the community.
Steve also served his country in the Air National Guard
