Patrice Ellen Foiles (Patty) was born in Illinois on April 27, 1949 and passed away on May 3, 2022 in her home after a long journey through Alzheimer’s. Patty moved to California on March 6,1959. She was the second oldest of four children. Her sister Penny just 13 months older, her brother Billy 5 years younger and sister Carole 16 years younger. Patty started babysitting before most children today stay home on their own. Children were her passion, her purpose in life and being a mom was the one thing she always knew she wanted to be. She received her AA degree in early childhood education from American River College and honed her parenting skills on neighborhood kids, her baby sister, nieces and nephews, as a preschool teacher and then as a live in care provider at a group home for children with developmental disabilities. Patty met and subsequently adopted her first child, Sarah while working at the group home. Patty would go on to adopt 4 more babies Brandon, Bethany, Andrew and Meghan. But raising 5 kids as a single mom wasn’t quite enough for Patty who had boundless love to give. She also babysat for extended family and friends as well as took in and cared for many foster babies. Patty was a devout and faithful Christian her whole life and while never being a vocal evangelist she showed many people what a Christian looks like. On May 3rd Earth lost a saint and Heaven gained an angel and I believe there was great rejoicing in heaven even as there were many tears here.
