

Rich was a toddler when his family moved to San Lorenzo, CA, where his father started working for Sears Roebuck Co. in Oakland CA. When Rich was starting middle school his family moved to Pleasant Hill CA. Rich always loved baseball and played throughout his school years. In high school he also played for the Pleasant Hill Baseball League.
Rich understood the importance of education. After graduating from Pleasant Hill High School he went to the University of California in Berkeley. After graduating from Berkeley Rich went to California State University in Sacramento for his MBA. Taking a few years off Rich then attended the University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and graduated with a Juris Doctor (J.D) degree.
Rich began his career with the State of California in 1973 while studying for his MBA. His first position was in General Services but retired as an Audit Supervisor in the Finance Department.
On June 5, 1974, Rich was united in marriage to DeeAnn Wessman. They met during a summer break from college while they both were working at Sears. In 1978 the couple were blessed with the birth of their son, Richard (Ric). Rich was a devoted father and especially enjoyed coaching Ric’s baseball games.
Rich and DeeAnn were again blessed with the birth of their granddaughter Josslyn in 2015. Although his family always came first , he also loved sports, history and travel, particularly with his family.
Rich will be cherished by his wife DeeAnn and family which includes: Richard (Ric), son; Josslyn, granddaughter; Steve Hebert (Lynn), brother; Elaine Kiehnle (Robert), sister-in-law; Jill Cady (Jarrod) and Stephanie Gorman (Joe), his nieces and Emmett and James Cady his great nephews.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents and sister Linda Coffee.
