
Robert L. Harlan passed away peacefully at his home with those he loved by his side on October 9, 2011; he was 84. He was born in Nebraska to Oty and Minnie Harlan on December 23, 1926. Robert served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He worked as a baker for Wonder Bread and also owned his own bakery for many years. Robert was a resident of the Sacramento area for almost 60 years and was deeply committed to giving back to the community. He volunteered for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department for 15 years, Kaiser Foundation for 20 years, The Sacramento Blood Center for 15 years and was recognized as a member of the 35 gallon blood donors club. Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Arlene "Butch" Harlan and will be deeply missed by his 3 children, 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Gregory Harlan. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 from 9-10am, funeral service will begin at 10am at Mount Vernon Memorial Park in Fair Oaks, CA.
