Robert ("Bob") Arlie Mongold, 79, returned to his heavenly home on February 15, 2020, after a valiant battle with multiple health issues where he now rests in paradise. His loving, faithful devotion to the family and his firm belief in our Lord Jesus supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Bob was born to the late Other and Mary Mongold in West Virginia. He was raised in the Brethren Church. As a child he enjoyed little league baseball and, as an adult, he was involved in horse racing. He moved to California in the late 1970’s. Bob was a Marketing/Sales Director in the newspaper commercial equipment business for approximately 40 years and enjoyed traveling all over with his favorite frequent sales visits to Hawaii to Arizona. Hobbies included sunbathing, dining out and fishing. He was a proud member of the Republican party. He enjoyed his social life of golf games and eating out with a faithful group of friends. Bob loved to do his daily walks for many years.
Bob was blessed with a loving family, many friends and a loving church family. He was married to Sandra Widjaya, on November 21, 1981, in Concord, California. In 1990, they moved to Granite Bay, Placer County, California. They found and have been part of (then) First Presbyterian Church and (now) Centerpoint Community Church since 1990. God blessed Bob and Sandra with so many beloved years of memorable trips including Indonesia, Bali, the eastern and western U.S. Coasts and Alaska. The most recent, on his bucket list, was vacationing near Yellowstone National Park where he finally checked off seeing Old Faithful.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sandra Widjaya Mongold, his children, Robert Jr. ("Bobby"), Robin, Cindy and Michael ("Mike"); his grandchildren, Rob III ("Robby"), Libby, C.J., Chad, Mabel, Anne and Hannah; and his sisters, Shelby Bensenhaver and Sue Renfrew. He is preceded in death by his brother, Don Mongold and his parents.
Bob’s family internment will be at Mount Vernon Memorial Park & Mortuary. The Memorial Service/Celebration of Life in Bob’s honor will be held at Centerpoint Community Church, 515 Sunrise Avenue, Roseville, California 95661, on March 7th, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please provide any contributions to benefit 'Centerpoint Community Church' in honor of Robert Mongold, at the address above or by visiting their website at centerpointroseville.org.
