Rosa Maria Caviglia (Nonni) entered in to peaceful rest at the age of 72 in the early morning of Friday, March 16, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was at her home in Folsom, California with her family by her side, and was blessed to be surrounded with love from her sisters and several nieces and nephews as well as she embarked on her journey to Heaven.
Rosa was born on October 14, 1945 in Messina, Italy. She grew up with her parents, John and Domenica Paratore, and her sisters Marisa, Enza and Lil. Her family moved to the United States of America in June 1958, when she was 12 years old and resided in San Francisco, California. She began her career in banking with Crocker National Bank at 22, and retired as a Senior Manager of Corporate Taxes with Wells Fargo after 39 years of service. She married the love of her life, Fred Caviglia, on September 14, 1974. They lived in San Francisco’s Diamond Heights District, and later moved to San Bruno, California where they raised their two children, Christie and Marc. Rosa and Fred moved to Folsom in November, 2005 in anticipation of the arrival of their first grandchild, Kiley. In her retired years, Rosa embraced her new role as Nonni, and absolutely loved spending time with her grandchildren Kiley, Camden, Quincy and Jhenae. Her family meant the world to her, and she did everything she could to always put them first, even in illness. She was an incredibly loving and nurturing wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. She was always supportive of all of her children and grandchildren’s activities and loved nothing more than watching them succeed and achieve their goals. She made sure that her husband, children, and grandchildren knew that they were loved and was always there to offer compassion, advice and wisdom. Aside from spending time with her family, she loved to shop, read, decorate her home, entertain friends and family, visit San Francisco, and vacation to Hawaii, Lake Tahoe and Disneyland. Rosa was a remarkably strong and valiant woman, who had an insurmountable will to never give up. Her presence brightened any room with her gorgeous smile and polished demeanor. She was vivacious, charismatic, and always endearing. She embodied elegance and grace and carried herself with exquisite poise.
She volunteered at The Murer House, where she made many wonderful friends and quickly grew passionate about her work there. She became a member of the Board of Directors, and was in charge of coordinating the volunteers for all events and activities. She contributed to the success of many events The Murer House hosted and took great pride in her involvement with this organization.
Rosa is survived by her husband Fred, children Christie (Kevin) and Marc (Desiree), grandchildren Kiley and Camden (Christie) and Quincy and Jhenae (Marc), sisters Marisa Borzoni (Clark), Enza Nevolo (Augie) and Lil Simic (Zoran), sister-in-law Merlanne Doran (Jack), and her many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
