

Born December 28, 1920 in Alameda, raised in Berkeley, California and died peacefully in Orangevale on January 23, 2015. Roy served in the Western Pacific Theater in W.W. II after graduating from Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, GA. He spent his early years working for S.P.Co., spending the next 31 years as a sales representative for AAA in Berkeley. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Phyllis and son, Ken. Roy is survived by step children Jim Hoos and wife, Kim, Gary Hoos, Linda Pappas-Watanabe and husband, Keith Watanabe; grandchildren, Lisa, John, Justin and great grandchildren Andrew and Melina. Roy is also survived by numerous cousins in the U.S. and Sweden. He was a member of VFW Post 10125 and the Italian Cultural Society. Roy found fellowship at the Folsom Senior Center, SIRS, and with pastors and friends at Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church in addition to the neighbors he has been lucky to have for many years, especially Mary Dexter who provided much kindness, comfort and friendship. Music was always a great part of Roy’s life and he found enjoyment in the Sacramento Jazz Society and with the Off Key Singers at the Folsom Senior Center – a group that gave him much joy. A memorial will be held at Mt. Vernon, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, California.
