Steve Ebbert Walter (Wally) 66, born in Houston Texas, passed away on January 21, 2013, doing what he loved, golfing at Northridge Country Club where he was a member. Steve was from the Class of 1965 at James Marshall High in West Sacramento. He joined the Navy in 1965, where he was a boilermaker on the USS Hornet. He Married Nancy Tanner , the mother of his three children in 1965. Steve is survived by his children, Steve Walter, Gina Simonelli, and Jason Walter, a brother Harry Walter, a girlfriend Dominique Fairbank, and six grandchildren.
During the 1970’s Steve began working at the Southern Pacific Railroad and worked until its closure. He enjoyed several successful business ventures until finally becoming the owner of Sunrise Nissan Auto Dismantling where he prospered until his retirement in 2003.
Steve had literally hundreds of close friendships. He had a bigger than life personality and will be remembered for his ability to turn the most ordinary of functions into a party, his tough exterior, (even though he really had a heart of gold), his passion for Politics, and his keen business sense. There will never be another Wally. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. A Visitation will take place from 4-8:00pm on Monday, Jan 28. Funeral Service at 12:00pm on Tuesday, Jan 29. Both services will be held at Mt. Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Ln. Fair Oaks, CA 95628. A Memorial reception to follow at the 4th Street Grill, 400 L St Sacramento, CA 95814.
