Terri A. Pecchia, a long time Cameron Park resident, passed away on March 23, 2012 with her family by her side at Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento. She succumbed to Scleroderma, an autoimmune disorder, after a yearlong courageous battle.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 30, 11:00 AM, at the Holy Trinity Church in El Dorado Hills. A reception will follow.
Terri was a loving wife, mother, and daughter, who always put others before herself. Terri was an artist—her work as a seamstress and scrapbooker was flawless, creative, and unique. She spent much of her time teaching quilting classes and spreading her love of sewing to others. Terri was always giving back to her community by making and donating completed scrapbooks to Make-a-Wish Foundation; and because of her love for animals, making scrapbooks for the SPCA and Golden Retriever Rescue as well.
Terri was born on August 5, 1955 in Eureka, California to Ellis and Betty Smith. Terri met her husband, Dennis Pecchia, as teenagers while working at the local fair in Eureka, CA. After graduating from Eureka High school in 1973, Terri started dating Dennis and they fell in love. They married in August 1976 and moved to the Sacramento area where Dennis continued schooling and started working as a bridge engineer. In 1987, they had their son, Matthew, who quickly became tremendous part of their lives. Their marriage, as described by so many as a "fairytale marriage", spanned 35 years.
Terri is survived by her husband Dennis Pecchia and son Matthew Pecchia; by her parents Ellis and Betty Smith; and by many loving and tightly knit family members.
